One Year of Self Discipline: Checklist 1/10/24

We visited family over the weekend. I planned to stick to my plan and I drank and binged on foods I haven’t been eating, meat, dairy and bread, pizza, sandwiches.

I thought it would be a relief to return back to my healthy habits at home but I found myself struggling with wanting junk food that I really don’t want. It seems I want them because I’m staying away from them.

Today I asked for insight and it came in the shower, as it often does.

The idea of becoming pregnant appeared in my mind’s eye. When you first find out you’re pregnant, no one else knows and signs don’t show until a few weeks down the road.

It takes a full 40 weeks for the cells to divide, multiply and grow into a fully developed human baby.

After the baby is born, the next 3 months or 12 weeks is called the fourth trimester. 40 weeks plus 12 weeks is 52 weeks or 1 year. Ha! The Universe likes to keep it interesting. So it seems that I am still on track for the 365 days of self discipline.

What’s nice is often we can’t devote ourselves to a cause or what we know is best for ourselves but we magically can when it’s for our baby.

So step one is decide what you want to be pregnant with – the idea, the lifestyle, the happiness factor, level of success and imagine that you just found out that you are pregnant with the seed of this soon to be fully developed idea that will forever change reality as you know it.

There’s not much to do except be healthy, rest, drink plenty of water and let your body do what it knows to do.

You don’t actively grow the baby; your body does. The intelligence of your cells and the seed in your womb does all of the work.

Your job is to provide the proper resources, nutrition and stress free environment. Take naps, you’ll be tired, may be nauseous but hopefully just elated that you are with child or with idea.

Today is Day 10. Like learning that you are with child, often times you don’t know until you’re at least 4 weeks along, an entire month, one of 10 down. Check! Since the date of conception is Day 1 of your last cycle. If you miss your period then you take a test and find out that you’re already a few weeks pregnant yikes!

Although we are on Day 10, it’s still early to take the test. You can still behave as usual- unless you’re trying to conceive and taking it easy on the drinking, processed food and all things unhealthy in general. If you want extra mental clarity and an energy boost, plant based foods, exercise, meditation, high quality rest, laughter and genuine happiness are the best medicine and incubators.

If we can grow an entire human being in 40 weeks, create the miracle of life then we can trust the Universe to create a few other miracles in our world too.
