Big change brought to you by baby steps.
If you can apply the 1% rule to your life every day for one year, then you will be 365% better, or a 37 times better version of yourself by the end of the year.
Want to read more books? Reading 10 pages a day results in 12 books a year or thereabouts. Want to get in shape? Exercise for 15 minutes a day and you’ll be 365% more fit if you change nothing else. There are 24 hours in a day or 1440 minutes. 1% = 14.4 minutes.
If you want to improve multiple areas of your life, get up 1 hour earlier to spend 15 minutes each on 4 goals. If you do this for one year then you just improved yourself by 1,460%.
Before you get overzealous, start small. Start with one goal. Be consistent. Then add a second, adapt, get comfortable then add a third and a fourth. Give yourself a smaller task that almost seems “too easy”. This way you can experience the satisfaction of this accomplishment, and continue your incremental improvements. Remember to enjoy the journey as you trust the process.
Until next week!
